When I first heard that H&M was going to collaborate with Italian label Marni, I was like “So what? What’s Marni?” I didn’t know a single thing about it neither have I heard of the brand. I didn’t feel the same excitement I had when I learned about Versace collaborating with the Swedish fast fashion brand. I was all ecstatic and delighted that I couldn’t sleep waiting for the opening date. But when I heard about the next collaboration with Marni, all I could feel was nonchalance. I was even surprised that some of my friends were shouting for joy when they heard about the news.

After doing my own research, I just learned Marni is one of those labels which started small then gradually grew into a very successful one. Marni was founded by Gianni Castiglioni and his wife Consuelo in Italy and named after the former’s sister Marina. It’s really famous because of its original prints, very cute colors and vintage feeling. Now, it has decided to reach out to a bigger audience by collaborating with mega fast fashion brand H&M.

Today, H&M has officially released the pictures of the whole Marni collection. I browsed on it a while ago and I admit, they are quite inviting that I am already setting my eyes on some of the pieces.

Buttoned down shirts and sweaters with very cheeky prints, a well known trait of Marni.

More shirts for me but this time, only with colors, both bright and vintage-y.

I’ve been longing to own a new pair of sunnies and I think this one might be the answer to my prayer.

Above all these, the Marni x H&M foot wear is giving me the highest form of temptations to line up early on the release date. That rope sandal in the third image has my name written all over it. I love how the combination of metallic color, brown leather accent and rope harness went well together to form a very summer-y piece for the feet.

I am still thinking if I should go and line up early for the Marni x H&M but I swear that rope sandal is really calling my name. Well, I still have two weeks more to reflect.

A Tokyoholic Sunday

Last weekend, I was able to share a very beautiful Sunday with my friend Natalia of Tokyoholic. We went around downtown Tokyo- from Omotesando, Aoyama to Shibuya for some tea, cakes, window shopping and a bunch of chit chats. I met Natalia during the opening event of the Roberto Cavalli boutique last November 2011. I instantly like her from the beginning because her inside is as beautiful as her outside. Not only that she has an angelic face, she’s also a very soft-spoken and kind-hearted soul. I am amazed with her curiosity about things which makes her achieve more in life. I wouldn’t forget her story when she was little. She asked her father to set up their computer so she could play games. Instead of doing it, he just handed out a book to her and said “If you wanna play, then do it by yourself.” Ever since, she would always do something that will challenge herself. Now she’s learning French because she doesn’t want to feel left out whenever her French friends started talking in the language. And it’s also worth mentioning that she’s self-studying. Amazing! Other than that, I will never ever forget her story about how she get married in Patagonia and how she made me feel wanting to go to Argentina.

But the best part of our conversations was about online shopping. Before I would have doubts about it but now that Natalia has thought me the secrets of the trade, I guess I’m now ready to give it a try. LOL! Thanks for the tips, Natalia.

A Little Tribal

I decided to go minimal during the Elle Girl Night x Revlon party last week by sporting a classic black number. Black blazer, shirt, trousers and shoes. Thinking that it was too average, I decided to accentuate it with this tribal necklace that I found in one corner of our house. Sometimes, it’s a good thing when you live in place where random fashion stuff just suddenly pop out of nowhere.

Can’t It Be Warmer Already?

I was browsing the photos in my phone when I came across to this one, which was shot last year. A splash of blue and white which were the trend colors last year’s spring-summer with metallic floral details by my Marcia (the bag).

I simply miss the warm weather and I just can’t wait any longer for summer. Yes, ONLY summer. I might be a person of colors but I never liked spring because of the hay fever it gives me. 50% itchy eyes plus 50% runny nose gives you a total of 100% annoyance. Anyway, I can’t wait to pull off some “easier” fashion. To be honest, being the person who came from the tropics, I’m just a tees-and-shorts kind of guy. I like it better when I can just put on a shirt and some denim shorts, pair them up with some kick ass shoes and voila! I totally hate layering because I suck on it big time. Plus, when you don’t have all the time in the world, you can’t help but just grab anything in the closet and fly away.

The woman of the hour Adele covers US Vogue for the month of March. Who’s more than deserving to be the face of the bible but a lady with poise and glamour plus undeniable talent?

Obviously, Vogue has done something with the lionessa queen with the power of Adobe Photoshop but I don’t really care. I love Adele with all my heart. Six Grammy’s, a Vogue cover, a million dollar career and a beautiful voice- you won’t really regret losing a dick head boyfriend and being told by Karl Lagerfeld “a little too fat” if you have all of these.

In Dreams You Are: Mich Dulce AW 2012-2013 Collection

Filipino designer/milliner Mich Dulce has finally released her short fashion film, In Dreams You Are, which features her AW 2012-2013 collection. It also stars Filipino-British model and VJ Georgina Wilson and Bogs Jugo.

The video successfully showcases the beauty and craftsmanship of Mich’s hats. Everything about it helped in making her works stand out- the cinematography, the styling etc. As usual, Mich never fails to amaze me. I don’t know how she does it but she is the master of mixing elegance with cuteness. She always know how to balance glamour and eccentricity. Amaze balls!!! I simply adore this collection, making me drool like a crazy hound. My personal picks are the triple bow headband at 1:42 and the bow bunny topper hat at 2:01.

Elle Girl Night x Revlon Party

Last Valentine’s Eve, after a long day at work, I dashed to Fiat Cafe to attend the Elle Girl Night which was supported by Revlon and co-produced by Trip’s Angels. The place was packed with the most beautiful and fashionable ladies in Tokyo who enjoyed a night of great music, dancing, games and amazing prices.

Because I found my all black number too boring, I decided to put some bang to it by putting on a tribal necklace and my Afro wig from my friend Kemily. Being the attention whore that I am, I totally loved it when people started looking and talking about it. Trip-san even told me that it looks so natural for me.

Vegetable festival! One of the main themes of the night were vegetables and how beauty could be obtained through eating them. I wasn’t really interested at all because I’m not a big fan of veggies but I simply couldn’t resist to taste some when a small plate of veggies were served to all of us.

Megumi, who I missed so much, and Vivian of Metropolis Magazine, Japan’s leading English magazine.

Maho and Trip of Trip’s Angels. I love these girls! So fun to be with and very humorous. I couldn’t stop fooling around with Trip the whole night.

The most beautiful boy in town, Sho, who I haven’t seen since I arrived from Manila. It was nice catching up with him after a long time.

Fiat Cafe was so packed with Tokyo’s most beautiful women.

Facetime with Mai! It’s not the same without Tokyo’s original party girl.

Pretty Devin and Shaula who also graced the event with very good dancing music.

Designer and DJ Alexander Lee Chang. Who can beat a man who knows how to make good clothes and music?

It was nice to see FAB teacher Adam of Fucking Friday again together with her glam friends. He looked so good after his grand vacay in Bangkok.

The very handsome Kenny who looks so springy with his soft-colored striped suit, pink shirt and tie. Gosh! He looked so good every girl in the party wanted to have their picture taken with him. Who can’t resist a very cute guy with green leaves on both hands?

As always, every Elle Girl Night is a fun.

Sweet Sisters In Tokyo

I was glad to be reunited with my sisters John and Lui last week. John, more famously known as John “The Universal Sweet” Lapus is an award winning comedian in the Philippines while Lui is the head of the talk unit of ABS-CBN, one of the country’s leading broadcasting network. I met them both during my newbie days in Teatro Tomasino in the University of Santo Tomas. They were here in Tokyo to celebrate the birthday of their close friend Kris Aquino, the Philippines’ Queen of All Media.

I spent 2 consecutive nights of drinking, dancing, laughing and catching up with John and Lui. It was my first in a long period of hibernation from the partying scene to do such. It was tiring but it really felt good to be reunited with my Teatro sisters who I owe a lot for teaching me a bunch of things during my university theater days. Big thanks also to John for giving me a copy of ZsaZsa Zaturnnah sa Kalakhang Maynila (ZsaZsa Zaturnnah In Metro Manila), which is the 2nd installment of the most iconic Filipino gay character, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah.

Fun times! Thank you, kuya Sweet and kuya Lui. I’ll see you soon.

You taught the world a lot of things through music. You taught us how beautiful and at the same time painful love is. You taught us to have faith in times of troubles and trust in the Almighty. You taught us that we can do anything that we’ve been wanting to be if we only believe in ourselves. You taught us how to be strong individuals whenever someone leaves us for the wrong reasons. You taught us that it’s okay to make mistakes because we’re human and that’s part of learning. You taught us that what’s important is you redeem yourself every time you fall.

Kermit Tesoro Shoes For Men

I have seen this Kermit Tesoro shoe for men before and I admit, it hasn’t left my mind ever since. Its shape, colors and clean lines make it very classy. On the the other hand, the skull makes it modern, a part of Kermit’s indisputable aesthetics. I can imagine that big sweet curve in my lips once I see them on my feet.

But as for now, all I can do is dream about wearing this pair of shoes. And times like this make me feel sorry for myself for being a pauper. Why can’t I just buy anything in a snap of my fingers?
